Step #2 Reinforcing Step #1

Returning Legislative Powers to the People.

Problem:

Our legislative republic form of government abuses the rights of the People and usurps the powers the People granted it.

Evidence:

Imposing taxes on us without our consent.

Depriving us in many cases of the benefits of trial by jury.

Made the Executive and the Judicial Branches loyal to its will alone for their tenure in office and the amount and payment of their salaries.

Erected a multitude of new offices with officers who harass the People and eat out their means of support.

Combined with others to subject us to jurisdictions foreign to our sovereignty.

Refused assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

Altered fundamentally the forms of our government by dissolving our Representation by converting us into a non-representative republic.

Solution:

Reorganize our form of government.

Rewrite our constitution to include the new guards mentioned in Step #1 Rebuilding Trust; and others to prevent a repeat of the abuses mentioned above.

Currently:

Too many Americans forgot how important, how powerful, and how solid our political foundation is with the Declaration of Independence.

Unfortunately, many people think that we no longer need the Declaration with our Constitution; but that is the same as saying we do not need the foundations for our houses.

As the People of the United States of America, we failed our duties to keep check on our government to make sure it was safeguarding our rights.

Proposed Action:

It is time to write a new Constitution*; regarding our present constitution, keep the parts that still work well, fix the ones we can, and throw off that which is in total ruins.

Remember that we have to securely fasten the Declaration of Independence with the new Constitution so that future generations might not suffer from our neglect.
