1. Foreign Policy
When it come to foreign policy, I have yet to see the complications. So pardon me if I offend anyone with my simplification of the task.
If you do not go out of your way to irritate people, most of them leave you alone.
As for those bent on controlling you, it helps to know as much about them so that a sufficient show of force calms the waters without worsening the situation.
Pre-school Play-ground 101. If you get caught starting the fight or if you get caught as the first person who throws the punch while defending yourself, you look like a trouble-maker.
Pre-school Play-ground 102. Develop thick skin. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me. Put up with the name calling and the threats of aggression. Always be prepared to defend yourself when necessary, and to suffer the consequences if you get tricked into throwing the first punch.
Regarding our resources and those of the world:
Pre-school Play-ground 103. Share with others.
Economics 101. If you do not maintain sufficient reserves for yourself by giving too much to others, be prepared to pay a much higher price to restock when you have to buy from others.
Pre-school Play-ground 104. If you approach strangers with hostile intentions, you create enemies where friends may have existed. When you approach strangers in friendship, be prepared to defend yourself if need be.
All national foreign policy is, is that the world is now the "playground" and the "children" are now the leaders of nations; the insults more serious and the weapons more deadly.

2. The Iraq Situation
No nation should ever negotiate with terrorists, such deals only encourage similar or more aggressive illegal activity.
When terrorists against American People are caught, publicly tried before a impartial juries of American Citizens, and if found guilty, should receive maximum punishment inclusive of hard labor.
For all the hazardous work that needs to be done in our country, we have such a large, volunteer work-force. These volunteers are those who commit violent crimes against our People, whether they are citizens or foreigners.
Hard labor for prisoners is constitutional. Besides, it is not even salvery or invonutary servitude, when it is ceratin punishment for criminal actions. These people willfully relinquished all but their appeal rights while volunteering for prison labor camps by having committed the crimes they do. Obviously there would be different labor camps depending upon the severity of the crime committed; where felonious activity warrants more hazardous types of labor with more security; and parking violations might be simply a few hours of community service.
Specifically as the topic relates to the war in Iraq and area, as with the rest of the world, based on my extremely limited information about the topic, this is how I intend to proceed.
If we went to Iraq after Ben Laden and discovered he was not there; we should have left immediately. We need to apologize for that error on our part.
If we went over for weapons of mass destruction and discovered they were not there; we should have left immediately. We need to apologize anyway for that error on our part; because every nation has the duty to defend themselves against their enemies, no matter the enemies; even if it is the USA. We need to have the best defenses available in case we are attacked. This usually does not sit well with play-ground bullies.
If the entire Iraq situation resulted as an attempt to acquire oil, and our negotiations failed; we should have left immediately. We need to apologize for that error on our part regarding this issue.
If the Iraq situation is because we Americans are trying to force Democracy on the Iraq people and the world; we should never have been there in the first place unless we were invited by that new government to be there. We need leave if the People there do not want us there, or are not willing to fight for their own freedoms; and we need to apologize for that error on our part.
On the DEMOCRACY front, we should not be trying to force a political system on others that we do not enjoy ourselves. We should not be trying to force any political system on others that they do not want for themselves.
Retreat is an action political leaders take sometimes when they believe they are rightly involved in a particular event.
Withdraw, is when leaders recognize they are wrongly involved in a specific event and they seek to correct that wrong by getting out. Much like if you find yourself in a pit of rattle-snakes. It is not retreat if you want to be out of the situation.
With that said, within 30 days from my first day in office, there will not be any United States Military in the Iraq area if by Popular vote they have not enacted a Declaration of Independence from the present Powers; and officially seek, as a new nation, our assistance and protection. If the People of the area wish our assistance in rebuilding, we will offer what the US People are still willing to risk.

3. Church and State
I find nothing in either the Constitution or the Declaration that states there need be a separation of the two bodies. The most frequently referred to section of the Constitution is that of Amendment One, which states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
According to our Constitution, our government cannot set any criteria as to what a religion is. When it does, it violates the Constitution.
There is no reference to any religion being tax exempt. Religions are as much a business as a barber shop, recycling center, psychologist, or any other organization. What is generally being "sold" in religion has to do with what happens after this life.
Though our Constitution through "freedom of religion" does not prohibit any religious practice specifically, it regulates social activity generally. Therefore, religions are bound by the laws of the land.

4. Abortion
There are two primary issues with the abortion topic; choice and safety.
As a topic, abortion tries to pinpoint the start of a human life. This is a topic far too lengthy for this forum and beyond the scope of a political body.
Constitutionally, US Law and State laws can only regulate citizens or residents. US Constitution defines citizen as one born or naturalized. Therefore, only those born can be protected by US law or the laws of any state.
The People's representatives must leave the decision about abortion primarily to the mother and secondarily to the father if known. Whatever the guides and guards the parent(s) use in their lives, be they religion, conscious, public opinion, medical, scientific, or of some other name the decision belongs primarily to none other than the host/mother and her conscious.
The rarely discussed aspect about abortion is the medical or safety side of the equation. Science/Medicine would determine the legal methods of abortion taking into account the safety of the mother. Note, this does not mean that the politicians condone abortion, it merely means that if a person's mind is set to get an abortion, they will do so even if it is illegal and the method unsafe.
Too lengthy to discuss here is that of informing potential abortion patients of "all" the aspects of abortion when it might be time better spent informing the citizens of "all" the aspects of rearing children to benefit society.
One question remains. If we start human life at conception today, someone a generation or so from now will want the laws to protect the sperm and the egg; which after all, you cannot get to conception without them. Then, someone will later want to regulate individual diet; after all, the only way to insure "healthy and normal" children is to make sure the egg and the sperm are healthy; and healthy has as much to do with diet as anything.

5. Stem Cell Research
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Well, our human bodies constantly break down and we are still, relatively speaking, in the dark ages when it comes to understanding how our bodies work, and especially in understanding how to fix them. I do not mean to defeat another claim about us having the most information about our bodies as ever before. Information when not properly applied is useless at best.
Stem cell research is like any other tool with people on both sides who can and will use or abuse the tool.
If stem cell research helps us understand how to fix our bodies more along the lines of the sci-fi medical instruments that simply scan and fix problems without our "modern" surgery, why not use it. The technology is very promising. It is also destructive as well, just like dynamite, it can be used to kill and it can be used to heal; it all depends on whose hands in which the tool is placed.
The only way to reduce the abuses is to alter our justice and punishment system by rewarding those who use the tools to benefit society and severely punish those who abuse the tools to harm others. As it stands now, we have our "justice system" backwards to where it benefits the criminal and not the People.
