Now, is the Time to Decide

The correct answer is: The Declaration of Independence (DOC), which created the United States of America. The People are the nation.

Reasoning:

1) Quote from the DOC, "Among these (unalienable rights*) are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness--" you will find none of these specifically mentioned in the Constitution. Amendment #9 only loosely refers to them.

2) Quote from the DOC, "That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed." At this point, though we are a Free Nation, we do not have any government. This phrase allows the People to establish that government which later is known as The Constitution of the United States of America (Constitution).

3) The Constitution is our Government. The people elected into political offices are not our government. The Constitution is the document that limits the powers and authority of the individuals elected to government offices. The Bill of Rights have nothing to do with identifying or protecting your rights. They are there solely as limiting devices to guard against Abuses and Usurpations of power by elected officials and others in government offices.

4) Quote from the DOC, "That when any Form of Government becomes destructive to these Ends (protecting our rights*), it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it (the form of governemt*), and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principals, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." This is part of the letter our founders wrote to us and all future generations to tell us that when our government becomes corrupted, we have the right to correct it.

5) Quote from the DOC, "When a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and provide new Guards for their future Security." This, also a letter to future generation, tells us we are obligated to correct our corrupted government by setting new gaurds.

These five points makes Our Declaration of Independence, for the United States of America, the most powerful American document that protects our rights.

Now for your Second Test.

Are Americans "all talk and no action?"

Are you "all talk and no action?"

If you ever complained about our elected officials breaking their promises; I can only show you how We the People of The United States of America can correct that problem.
